Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan has congratulated recipients of Australia Day honours and awards from across the region.
Three Northern Tablelands residents received the honour of a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), one received a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) and one was the recipient of an Australian Police Medal (APM).
“It is excellent to see people from across the Northern Tablelands honoured for dedication to their communities and their professions,” Mr Moylan said.
“There is a wide variety of people from all different backgrounds and areas of expertise who received these accolades but they all have all demonstrated outstanding commitment in their field.
“I congratulate each and every one of them and thank them for their service.”
Walcha’s Anna Barwick received an OAM for service to the pharmacy profession. Throughout her career in the industry, Mrs Barwick has held numerous roles within the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, performed in many community-based programs, has worked as a lecturer at the University of New England, founded PharmOnline and received various awards.
Inverell’s Dianna Baker was awarded an OAM for service to local government and service to the community of Inverell.
Mrs Baker was a councillor at Inverell Shire Council for 25 years. During that time she served as deputy mayor and chaired many community committees and programs. She has also volunteered her time to the Inverell Equestrian Centre where she is a life member. Mrs Baker founded Baker’s Barn Saddlery, along with her husband Ken, in 1987. She has also been part of various clubs and community groups.
Moree’s Inspector Helen McWilliam received an APM for distinguished service in the Australian police force.
Insp. McWilliam has been part of the NSW Police Force since 1999 and has been in Moree for more than a decade. She is currently the officer in charge of Moree Police Station. Throughout her time in Moree she has co-ordinated search and rescue operations, recovery operations and has been dedicated to issues impacting youth within the local community.
Armidale’s Dr Alexander Moule was awarded an AM for his service to dentistry. Dr Moule worked extensively in the dentistry industry in Brisbane before moving to Armidale three years ago. He has held roles on the boards of various dental associations including the International Association of Dental Traumatology, the Australian Society of Endodontology, and more. He has also worked as a professor at the University of Queensland, has numerous academic publications and has undertaken a plethora of international fellowships. He was a reserve member of the Australian Army Dental Corps from 1990-2007.
Gwydir’s Patricia Hadley received an OAM for her service to community. She is a member of Rotary, Inner Wheel, RSL, Ladies Auxiliary, the Rural Fire Service, and many more community-based organisations.
