Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan has welcomed $52,000 funding to be shared amongst four preschools undertaking a pilot program to measure children’s progress as part of the National Preschool Reform Agreement.
The 2026/27 Preschool Outcomes Measure Pilot funding is allocated to Armidale-based Yarm Gwanga Preschool and Drummond Park Preschool, as well as the Boggabilla Central School Preschool and Glen Innes Preschool.
The MP welcomed the funding and commended the four preschools for taking part in this pilot program.
“Early education for preschoolers is vitally important, and the Preschool Reform Agreement funds 600 hours of quality preschool for children in those 12 months before ‘big school’”, the MP said.
“The preschools at Boggabilla, Armidale and Glen Innes will now be funded to join the pilot program that will provide the tools and skills to measure progress of the children in this program.
“Preschools chosen to undertake this pilot are all meeting or exceeding the set National Quality Standards, and statewide there were only 96 services funded.”
Participating Early Learning services must only use the funding for:
• Tools and Technology – Including tablets and other electronic devices, internet access to support pilot participation and evaluation.
• Educational resources – To support educators and teachers in administering the assessment tool.
• Staffing, salary and wages – To relieve teachers and educators who are participating in professional development and for educators and teachers participating in the pilot and evaluation activities
