TECH SAVVY SENIORS GET A $6,000 BOOST AT GUYRA

Guyra’s popular Adult Learning Centre will receive a $6,000 funding boost to support senior residents looking to up their technology skills Northern Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan announced.

The funding will be delivered through the 2026 Tech Savvy Seniors Program for the Guyra Adult Learning Association (GALA).

The program is a NSW Government and Telstra initiative aiming to increase digital and technology skills for seniors in the community.

“This is a terrific initiative in reducing the isolation of seniors who may not have the knowledge, confidence and capacity to join in the digital world,” Mr Moylan said.

“I commend the team at GALA for making the effort to ensure seniors are included in their programs, and this has been a regular offering over the years.

“One of the really important advantages of the Tech Savvy Seniors Program is the education around cyber safety and building confidence in the online world.”

The GALA Centre will be offering the program soon, and the team are excited to receive the support.

“The Tech Savvy Seniors courses are always well-received and popular,” GALA’s Coordinator Dorothy Lockyer said.

“We are excited to receive this funding and look forward to welcoming tech curious seniors through the door and turning out fully fledged tech savvy seniors at the end of the course.

“It’s important that seniors can safely and confidentially navigate technologies for their own wellbeing and social inclusion.”
