Media Release: Touriandi Lodge made safer with $37,000 flooring upgrade

Thursday 23, January 2025

Bingara’s Touriandi Lodge is now a lot safer for residents and workers after an upgrade to the facility’s flooring.

Touriandi Lodge officially opened in early 1993 and provides care for elderly community members, with a volunteer board overseeing its operations, making it a true community-run organisation.

Its newly-renovated floors came through a $37,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnerships program.

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan inspected the new fit out of the flooring.

“Touriandi Lodge is such an important service for both the residents and their family members so it is important the facilities are in safe and working condition,” he said.

“Safety in aged care facilities is a priority and the new flooring will reduce the risk of trips and slips.

“Congratulations to Touriandi Lodge for applying for and being successful in the grant to improve the lifestyle of your residents.”

Touriandi Lodge has 28 beds with all levels of care, including for those who still like to live with a level of independence as well as residents who need round-the-clock care.

Facility manager Christal Harding expressed her appreciation for the improvements.

“We are grateful to the Northern Tablelands seat for assisting our small rural not-for-profit in this valuable upgrade to support care,” she said.

“The upgrade will further reduce trip hazards for our residents and increase compliance with infection control principles.”

Applications for the Community Building Partnerships program will open on 28 January with grants of $10,000 to $100,000 available. Visit nsw.gov.au/grants-and-funding/community-building-partnership-2025 for more information.
