Media Release: Spring has sprung for GLENRAC with $20,295 support

NORTHERN Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan has announced a $20,295 grant for GLENRAC which will be used to purchase a new tandem trailer for field work including to transport material between farms for revegetation site preparation.

Mr Moylan visited GLENRAC in Glen Innes this week to formally announce the funding and hear more about how the new trailer would be used.

“GLENRAC has had a long history of revegetation plantings on farms across the Glen Innes district which includes creating a planting site that is weed free with good quality soil, so that seedlings have a good chance of survival,” Mr Moylan said.

“I have no doubt the new trailer will help their efforts with planting enormously, as previously GLENRAC had to borrow equipment from Local Land Services which can often be in high demand in the spring and summer months.

“The organisation is now in its 35th year and has 1800 individual members, and currently 1 revegetation project funded by the NSW Environment Trust, which will involve 18 farms in planting this summer season.

“Thanks to this grant, GLENRAC will now have their own locally based equipment that participating farms can easily borrow during the months leading up to planting.

“With so many funding cuts to regional grant programs under the Minns Labor Government, it is terrific news GLENRAC has secured this grant so they can continue their important work in the Glen Innes district.”

Chair of GLENRAC Julie Firth said she was delighted to receive funding for the new trailer.

“GLENRAC is delighted to receive Community Building Partnership funds to purchase equipment that will serve our membership and the community for many years to come,” Ms Firth said.

Mr Moylan said GLENRAC has ordered their new trailer through a locally based supplier Smart Trailers. The delivery is expected at the end of September 2024.
