The new Walcha Little Athletics season hit the ground running with a funding boost for fresh equipment.
Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan was pleased to deliver $11,733 from the Community Building Partnership program for the club to purchase equipment to help kids in the program go the distance.
“Whether it is running, jumping, throwing, and everything in between, Little Athletics is the sport where kids get to try their hand at everything,” Mr Moylan said.
“So many of our past and present Olympians have all started their careers at Little Athletics so it is incredibly important to support those dreams right where they start.
“It is great to see around 40 participants take part in Walcha’s weekly programs.
“The $11,733 grant will go towards securing new and updated equipment to widen the scope of sports on offer as well as make transporting that equipment much easier.
“Well done to Walcha Little Athletics and hopefully we will see some of those young athletes in the green and gold in the future!”
Walcha Little Athletics’ coordinator Rebecca Whillock said by purchasing new equipment, the club can widen their programs which will benefit the participants.
“This funding is a vital investment in the future of Walcha Little As and the broader community,” she said
“It enables us to enhance our athletic facilities significantly by providing essential equipment and efficient storage solutions.
“These improvements will create a more structured, safe, and inclusive sporting environment for athletes of all ages and skill levels, encouraging higher participation and fostering a more active, engaged community.
“These enhancements will strengthen community spirit and promote a lifelong love of athletics in our region.”
