Media Release: Knockout News for PCYC Armidale with $21,717 Funding Punch

ARMIDALE’S PCYC is jumping for joy with news of a $21,717 grant to help refurbish their outdated kitchen area, Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan MP has announced today.

Mr Moylan visited the Club this week to deliver the good news, with money secured under the latest Community Building Partnership round.

“The project has been a priority for PCYC Armidale over several years, and it will help modernise the old and dated kitchen, address hygiene and compliance issues, as well as improve functionality,” Mr Moylan said.

“The Club has a large membership base – over 900 members, most of whom will directly benefit from the kitchen upgrade.

“The space is essential for food preparation for a range of activities, programs, and events, including Fit for Life – Nanaypura Boxing, life skills and wellbeing programs.”

Mr Moylan said the upgrades will allow PCYC Armidale to significantly improve the quality of the meals they provide through their various programs.

“The kitchen operates six days a week and delivers nutritious food for youth, coffee for adult and seniors’ classes, and most importantly, a place for many members to socialise.”

Club Manager Stephen Gray said PCYC Armidale is greatly appreciative for this opportunity and grateful for the support provided.

“With our club being 72 years old, this capital works funding allows us to undertake some much-needed improvements,” Mr Gray said.

“As a charity, we aim to offer a safe and welcoming space for our community while providing affordable services.

“This funding not only enables us to improve our facilities but also enhance the quality of our programs and services, allowing us to continue supporting our youth and the wider community.”

Mr Moylan said once the scope of work had been reviewed, the renovation would commence using local contractors.
