The clubhouse at Armidale Golf Club just got a lot more comfortable thanks to a brand-new air-conditioning unit Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan has announced.
Thanks to a $72,000 grant from the Community Building Partnership program, the previous outdated and failing unit has been replaced with a new, energy efficient system.
Mr Moylan said securing the grant and installing the new unit was timely with Armidale’s chilly winter.
“The Armidale Golf Club hosts thousands of people per year and it a hugely popular place to hold events,” he said.
“We all know how cold it gets in winter in Armidale so having a functioning and energy efficient system is a huge relief for the people who walk through the doors of the clubhouse throughout the cooler months.
“Those people include school and community groups, as well as the regular golfers, which means the entire region benefits from this grant from the Community Building Partnership program.”
Armidale Golf Club president Meg McKechnie said replacing the air conditioning was long overdue and the club will benefit across a broad range of areas thanks to the update.
“Armidale Golf Club currently has over 500 members, and hosts in excess of 12,000 rounds of golf each year played by members and visitors,” she said.
“Due to lack of available funds, the air conditioning’s replacement has been deferred and, in the meantime, a considerable amount for repairs incurred.
“With this cold winter it became apparent that this could not continue, and the club was receiving a lot of negative feedback about this.
“All of us at the Armidale Golf Club are incredibly grateful to NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership Program.”
