Half a million dollar investment to overhaul Glen Innes Library

Half a million dollar investment to overhaul Glen Innes Library

Thursday, 18 June 2026

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan was pleased to announce $500,000 has been secured for major upgrades to the Glen Innes Library.

The funding came via the State Library of NSW Public Library Infrastructure Grants program which helps councils across the state improve facilities at their local libraries.

Mr Moylan said the last time the Glen Innes Library had an update was more than two decades ago and the popular space is in need of a refresh.

“The Glen Innes Library hasn’t seen any updates since 2001 when it was relocated to its current space,” he said.

“With this grant, the carpet will be completely replaced, the shelving which holds thousands of books will be overhauled, both the interior and exterior will be painted and a new soundproof room to allow for recording and podcasting will be installed.

“It is a fantastic upgrade and I am sure the community will appreciate having modern facilities to use.”

Glen Innes Severn Shire mayor Margot Davis noted the upgrade reflects the importance of accessible, multi-use spaces in regional areas.

“This is about making sure people in Glen Innes Severn have access to the same kinds of opportunities you’d expect in larger centres,” she said.

“From supporting young people to building digital skills, these upgrades help bridge that gap.”
