Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan welcomed funding from the NSW Office of Youth for school holiday spring break events around the electorate.
The MP said that with the spring school holidays running from Monday 28 September to Friday 9 October, families will be looking for fun events to fill in the days.
“I’m sure the school holiday anthem of ‘there’s nothing to do’ will be ringing out in homes across the electorate this spring school holiday break”, the MP said.
“The NSW Government’s Office of Youth offers the Holiday Break Grants Program to support free activities for youth during the school holidays, and it has been popular in recent years.
“This Spring break there will be activities offered in Glen Innes Severn LGA and the Gwydir Shire LGA.
“I commend both councils for applying for this funding and ensuring our regional families and kids don’t miss out.”
Glen Innes Severn Council are offering a packed program with its Youth Holiday Break Program including circus challenges, wonky vase making, youth karate, indoor games and youth rock painting.
Gwydir Shire Council are offering free horse riding adventures along the Gwydir River and bookings close this Friday.
Contact your local; council for more information as many councils do offer free programs for children throughout school holidays.
“This is a fantastic funding program and there may be other activities around the electorate this school holidays that are free,” Mr Moylan said.
“The current cost of living pressures on all families, can mean that fun activities and excursions are out of reach – so a bit of local research and planning could turn up some great options.”
