$33,200 has been secured by Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan for local organisations to provide school holiday programs for young people.
The funding was awarded to councils and clubs in Glen Innes, Gwydir Shire and Walcha through the NSW Government’s Holiday Break program.
Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan said these programs are important in giving young people in regional areas the chance to engage in social and recreational activities.
“School holiday programs are particularly important in our smaller regional communities where there’s less opportunities for young people to engage in affordable, social activities,” Mr Moylan said.
“By securing funding through the Holiday Break program, these local organisations can ensure kids and teenagers have somewhere close to home to go without breaking the family budget.
“I am really pleased to see local programs put on for the next generation in our smaller communities.
“I encourage parents, kids and teenagers to get involved in these local activities.”
Funding recipients include:
- Glen Innes Pottery Club – Winter Mud Larks
- Glen Innes Severn Council – Regional Youth Holiday Break program
- Gwydir Shire Council – Red Carpet Formal Trivia Night in Warialda
- Walcha Council – Holiday Breakaways
