NORTHERN TABLELANDS STUDENTS LEADING THE WAY IN GROWING OUR OWN DOCTORS

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan welcomed nine newly graduated probationary constables to the region following their official attestation and march out from the Goulburn Police Academy today.

The NSW Police Force welcomed 353 new police officers in what is the largest attesting class in 14 years.

The MP was pleased to see that ongoing pressure around law and order in regional areas is being addressed by increased numbers of police.

The nine new police officers will start their careers in the New England Police District after eight months of training at the NSW Police Academy at Goulburn.

Two of the new recruits will be stationed at Armidale, one at Inverell, one in Glen Innes and five at Moree where they will spend the next year receiving on-the-job training.

“This is a welcome boost in policing numbers across the state, and especially for the New England Police Command, and is in line with the opposition’s work around increased resources to combat crime in regional areas,” Mr Moylan said.

“I warmly welcome the new recruits and commend them on their work and commitment to their new career and urge the community to also extend a friendly welcome to our region.

“It is not an easy career path, and there will be a lot demanded of each police officer every time they turn up for work – thank goodness there are people, like these new recruits, who are willing to step up for us.”
