Media Release: Moylan welcomes mayors and deputy mayors across region

MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan has welcomed the election of councillors across the region, with the election of mayors and deputy mayors finalised.

Mr Moylan congratulated those who have successfully been re-elected or elected to council for the first time, stating that serving in local government is an important privilege.

“Local government is an important conduit from the community to State and Federal Governments and their willingness to serve as a representative and advocate for their community is commendable,” Mr Moylan said.

“I have worked closely with the seven local councils in my electorate, including, Armidale Regional, Walcha, Inverell Shire, Uralla Shire, Glen Innes Severn Shire, Gwydir Shire, and Moree Plains Shire.

“In regional areas, working alongside local government is crucial, to ensure we deliver on projects and allow state government funding to flow through.

“I congratulate Armidale Mayor Sam Coupland and Deputy Mayor Todd Redwood, Walcha Mayor Eric Noakes and Deputy Mayor Glen O’Brien, Uralla Mayor Robert Bell and Deputy Mayor Tom O’Connor, Glen Innes Mayor Margot Davis and Deputy Mayor Carol Sparks, Gwydir Shire Mayor Tiffany Galvin and Deputy Mayor Sean Coleman, Moree Mayor Susannah Pearse and Deputy Mayor Wayne Tighe, and Inverell Mayor Kate Dight and Deputy Mayor Jo Williams on their elections.

“I look forward to catching up with all councillors across the Northern Tablelands and continue to work together to deliver on important projects.”
