The Walcha Motorcycle Rally is one of the biggest events on the town’s calendar and it is set to be even bigger with Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan announcing a $20,000 grant to help with running costs.
The annual event began four years ago and attracts hundreds, if not thousands, of people, and their bikes, from all over the country.
There’s everything from postie bikes, dirt bikes, cruisers, and even electric bikes for the little ones.
Mr Moylan said the Rally provides an important boost for the local economy.
“The Walcha Motorcycle Rally has fast become one of the must-do events for motorcycle enthusiasts around the country,” he said.
“It brings a huge amount of people to the town and provides a major boost for the local shops, cafes, and services.
“It is also a great way to showcase what the region has to offer.
“I am delighted to deliver $20,000 from the NSW Regional Event Fund to assist in keeping this event chugging along and supporting the township of Walcha.”
Walcha Council’s General Manager Phil Hood said the funding injection ensures word of the event can reach the far corners of Australia to bring even more people to town.
“We are extremely grateful for the Regional Event funding, which allows us to promote the event and Walcha to a wide audience,” Mr Hood said.
“Events like the Walcha Motorcycle Rally attract widespread visitation to the region, providing an economic boost to the town, as well as elevating the reputation of the region as a great destination to visit.
“We are very grateful for the funding support that has allowed us to attract visitors to Walcha from across the country.”
The Walcha Motorcycle Rally will be on 15 and 16 November.
