Media Release: Funding boost a real gem for community hall

Thursday, 23 October 2025

The Glen Innes Mineral and Gem Club’s Hall is a central place for many of the community’s clubs and organisations, and now it will be even more comfortable with $28,973 in funding to upgrade the facility.

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan visited the club to announce the funding which will go towards air conditioning and floor resurfacing.

Mr Moylan said it is great to see improvements to a facility where the wider Glen Innes community benefits.

“The Glen Innes Mineral and Gem Club is a popular organisation with a strong membership base and hosts events which benefit the local economy,” he said.

“Local dance groups, yoga and fitness classes all use the hall.

“Thanks to the funding from the Community Building Partnership program, the hall’s floor will be sanded and resealed and air conditioning will be installed, making it a comfortable space for everyone who uses it.

“It is great to see community facilities, like the Glen Innes Mineral and Gem Club Hall, upgraded for all to enjoy.”

Glen Innes Mineral and Gem Club’s secretary Jackie Ashby welcomed the funding and said the upgrades will improve the hall’s longevity.

“The whole community benefits from the generous funding,” she said.

“It creates a space that is usable for many different activities and with the improvements that the funding has allowed us to undertake, the space is more functional during the colder and warmer months that Glen Innes is famous for.

“The club currently has over 40 financial members and there are six additional clubs/classes that use the hall on a regular basis with additional members of the community renting the hall for wide and varied activities.

“The addition of air conditioning will improve the environment and make the hall a much more comfortable space for our users.”
