The Yarrowitch Public Hall and Recreation Reserve holds numerous events throughout the year and now keeping it in pristine condition will be a lot easier with Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan delivering funding for a new lawnmower.

$13,636 was secured through the Community Building Partnership program to go towards purchasing a new ride-on lawnmower to maintain the grounds and reduce the risk of grass fires.

“Yarrowitch is a tight-knit community and there’s no doubt the hall and reserve is part of that in being a central meeting point for gatherings, events and in emergency situations,” Mr Moylan said.

“Maintaining facilities within these villages is extremely important to maintain social bonds and strengthen the sense of community.

“It was excellent to visit Yarrowitch and meet the community and the people who give up their time to maintain the ground. Congratulations to the community and I look forward to my next visit.”

The Yarrowitch Public Hall and Recreation Reserve’s fund added $500 to purchase the new mower. Land Managers Louise Clarke and Anne-Marie Pointing said the hall and reserve is a huge asset to the community the addition of the lawnmower will make maintenance smoother and easier.

“The hall is the pride of community and visitors often comment on how well maintained the venue is,” Ms Pointing said.

“The grounds are used for camping, music events, private events and campdrafting events. The hall is the core meeting place in the small village of Yarrowitch. During the 2019 bushfires it hosted many first responders and was a venue that the community came together at to recover.

“The funding for the lawnmower will help the Yarrowitch community in maintaining the visual appeal of the showgrounds while reducing fire danger and protecting valuable assets like the hall.”
